Hi, friends! How are ya? Hopefully your week got off to a good start yesterday.
Forgive me for being a bit tardy to the party, but after a jam packed weekend, rolling back into town Sunday evening, and a full day of work and errands on Monday, I’m finally finding a bit of time to recap our weekend. It was a great one, so let’s hop to it!
My Friday began bright and early and was a full (and hot!) day. We had a field trip to a camp…think ropes courses, canoes, fishing, zip lines, climbing wall…and the kids had an absolute blast. Which of course means the teachers were ex.haust.ed.
Friday evening was full of leftovers, The Blacklist on DVR, and a crash into bed.
Saturday morning started off with a short Barre3 workout followed by a trip to the grocery store to pick up the ingredients to make a birthday cake for my mom’s birthday celebration (Her birthday was actually April 28th, but since everyone could be there this weekend for Mother’s Day, her birthday celebration was postponed).
She requested a non-traditional birthday cake – Strawberry Yogurt Cake. I love this cake. To me, it’s the perfect spring/summertime dessert, full of fresh fruit and refreshing flavors.
After lunch and a quick shower, John and I were off to Birmingham for the weekend. Our first stop was at one of my sorority sister’s wedding.
It was a beautiful wedding and the church was absolutely packed! A true testament to Jackie and her now-husband Tyler.
One of the best parts was getting to see and spend some much needed time with sweet college friends. I sure do miss them all!
Following the wedding, John and I were off to my parent’s house for my mom’s birthday celebration. She requested hamburgers, roasted potatoes, and salad. It was delicious!
The rest of the night was spent watching go-pro videos my sister had made of various recent family events and enjoying being together.
Sunday began with a leisurely breakfast, chatting with my parents while my other siblings trickled in. Soon, we were off to church and then home for some Domino’s Pizza! Just what the lady of the day requested.
After lunch my mom opened a few cards and gifts.
The rest of the afternoon was spent 4-wheeling, spending time to random things outside, and fishing.
I was quite the successful fisher-woman, I must say.
I only cast the fishing pole, I don’t touch bait or fish. Yuck!
We finally headed home and arrived back in Prattville about 7pm…just in time to quickly unpack, throw together Monday’s lunch and hop in the shower before a quick dinner.
It’s now Monday evening, and after working all day, making the weekly grocery trip, and doing food prep for the week, I’m now quite certain I’m coming down with my sister’s cold. Fingers crossed it passes quickly!
I’m thankful I don’t have much on my Tuesday agenda. Hopefully some rest will do the trick. Hope you have a terrific Tuesday!
1. What did YOU do over the weekend/for Mother’s Day?
2. Do you like to fish? I do! But I don’t touch bait or the fish, that’s my husband’s job!
3. Wedding season..love it or hate it? I LOVE it!
