How are you today? I hope today finds you rested, refreshed, and ready for what lies ahead. Or…perhaps you’re just hanging on till the weekend. I feel ya!
I ended the day yesterday absolutely exhausted. I’m not quite sure exactly why. I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary, but man, I had zero energy to do anything! Here’s to hoping today isn’t quite so tiring.
It’s been a few weeks (months?) since my last Day in the Life post, so I thought it’d be fun to put together another one. So, here ya go! Todays Day in the Life (DITL?) will feature Monday of this week…
5am – alarm goes off, I promptly hit snooze
5:20 am– finally roll out of bed, and do a bit of Bible reading before making my way to the bathroom. I normally do NOT get up quite this early. But I go to “Prayer at the Pole” on Monday mornings. A few of us gather each Monday morning at 6:45 for a quick devotional and a time of prayer.
5:40 am – get dressed, put on make up, and curl hair.
6:20 am – Kiss John as he gets up and make my way to the kitchen to put together our breakfasts. I leave John’s ready for him to grab on his way out the door. If I don’t, he won’t eat breakfast, ugh…#boys.
6:30 am– grab my things and head out the door
6:42 am – arrive at school. It’s a super quick trip thanks to zero traffic at that hour in the morning!
6:45 am – Prayer at the pole
7am – work in my classroom preparing things for the day/week, grading papers from last week, and doing other random things I didn’t get to over the weekend.
7:40 – crap…time’s running out…quickly scarf down a deeeelish breakfast of Julie’s eggwhite oatmeal with lots of PB and berries.
7:45 – 11:43 am: Open the door for the kiddos, teeeeaaacch, stop for a mandated computerized test in the computer lab, and teach some more.
11:42-12:06 pm: Phew, lunch time! Since I can’t exactly whip out my phone to snap a picture at the lunch table with the kiddos, a recycled photo will have to suffice.
Whole wheat bagel + hummus, turkey, veggies, avocado (mmm!!!), triscuits + more hummus, dark chocolate chip cookie (it’s teacher appreciation week and my kids know I looove dark chocolate!)
12:06-3: More teaching going on – and hopefully some learning on their part!
3 – 3:50 pm – prep for our upcoming field trip, clean up the room and ready things for the next day. Typically, I try aim to leave by 4.
3:50 – Headed for home!
4:00 pm– Stop to drop off a check.
4:07 – arrive home to change into comfy clothes.
4:20 – Eat a Chocolate Cupcake Luna bar. Still loving this flavor! I browse a few blogs while eating. Randomly flip on The Ellen Show and catch Britney Spears as her guest. Did y’all know she has a show in Vegas? I haven’t thought of Britney in ages!
4:30 – make the weekly grocery story run. I usually go on Sundays, but since we arrived back in town so late Sunday evening, I opted to go on Monday.
5:30 – arrive home and put away the groceries.
John gets home about the same time and we decide to head to the tennis courts to hit for a bit.
6 – 7:15 pm – Play tennis. John is a great coach. He’s a super good tennis player, and I’m still learning. I grew up playing basketball and volleyball, so tennis is a relatively new sport for me. I’m picking it up, but I get frustrated because I just want to go out there and be good! Ha!
We played for longer than we meant to and had to hurry home to get dinner going.
7:15-8pm – quickly put together my lunch for Tuesday, as well as this super simple recipe for Grilled Chicken Florentine that I saw on Jana’s blog a week or so ago. I threw together the pasta mixture while John grilled up the chicken for us.
This one was absolutely delicious. I definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re stuck in a recipe rut!
I served it with an (unpictured) side salad topped with feta and almonds.
8-8:10 pm- decide to quickly hop in the shower before dinner so I can sleep in a bit on Tuesday morning.
8:15 – Plop down on the couch with a delicious dinner to catch up on The Amazing Race from Friday night.
9:20 – We watch an episode of Undateable while I snacked on 1/2 c. of some sweet and salty trail mix. Yum! I’m a sucker for anything sweet and salty.
10 pm – Brush teeth and fall into bed. Phew!
10:30 pm – finally asleep!
And that friends, was my Monday! After typing all that up, now maybe I know why I was so tired on Tuesday…
Have a very happy Hump Day!
