Today is all about treating yourself. Why is it important to treat yourself? For a few different reasons.
If you’re a perfectionist like me, you may tend to be too hard on yourself. I often feel like I don’t “deserve” certain things until I’ve accomplished x, y, and z. This is simply not true. I shouldn’t judge myself on what I’ve done, but rather who I am. And you shouldn’t either. Treating myself to a small “luxury” here and there helps me remember this.
As you know, I’m on a break from intense types of exercise. Yesterday, I treated myself to a monthly subscription of Barre 3. Y’all this had me sweating and shaking in the best way. I recommend it if you’re looking for a good at home workout!
Another reason it’s important to treat yourself? It makes life more enjoyable! Have you ever had a loooongg day ahead or you, filled with unpleasant meetings, due dates, etc? So, in preparation for your day, you throw on a super cute new top or some adorable new shoes. Don’t those things make you feel better? Maybe it’s just me, but when I feel pretty, whether it’s new clothes, a haircut, a manicure, and so on, I feel so much better about my day. It gives me a little confidence boost going into a long day.
I recently treated myself to a new bottle of Essie nail polish. $5…can’t pass that up!
It’s also important to treat yourself to improve your mood and de-stress. Things that that help me reduce stress? Reading, talking with my husband, doing something active, and slowing down to enjoy life and not take things quite so seriously.
Last night, John and I left things we “needed” to get done at home and opted instead for a hour or 2 on the tennis courts. We both enjoyed playing together, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company while getting a good sweat in.
These things seem to work for me! You may be on a strict budget (I definitely don’t have endless funds to spend each week), but treating yourself doesn’t have to be anything that requires spending money. Inexpensive ways I like to treat myself include going on walks, preparing a meal I know I’ll really enjoy, taking time to read or browse a magazine, give myself an at home pedicure or manicure, or take the time to do something “crafty”around the house (paint a canvas, sew, etc.).
On a completely different note… is anyone watching The Bachelorette? Did anyone watch last night? I won’t share any spoilers, but I must say, I was quite upset with who she sent home. He was the most “real” candidate in my opinion. He’s totally my vote for the next Bachelor!
Anyway, the resort in the Punta Cana where they stayed was the SAME PLACE we stayed ON OUR HONEYMOON! Y’all, I was seriously freaking out there for a minute. It was so cool! We kept pausing it to see all the different places around the resort we remembered going to. That was my Monday night excitement.
1. Why do you think it’s important to treat yourself?
2. What are some of your favorite ways to treat yourself? That cost $$ or don’t.

3. Bachelorette….thoughts? Well, now I’m all for Josh. I seriously can’t stand Nick. I just feel like he just loves the idea of being in love…as evidenced my his previous relationships that he was “devastated” by. Not sure if he’s really in love with ANDI or just with begin in love and being in a relationship.
I think it’s safe to say I’ve totally overanalyzed that show…
